Queen City of The South - Day One to Six

Friday, November 23, 2012 Cebu City, 6000 Cebu, Philippines

A year ago, my then friends and I have been planning to go out of town for a little summer vacation. Since one of us was going to celebrate her eighteenth birthday soon, she decided to treat us to a week in the Queen City of The South. It was my second time around to visit Cebu after 21463252 eons~haha! The last time I visited the beautiful island was way back when I was still a kid. I went with my family during that time to attend a relative's wedding. So when I heard that we were going to Cebu for a week, I thank the heavens for giving me/us that summer to visit the majestic island of Cebu.

Warning: This is going to be one heck of a photo heavy post.
052112 (a.k.a Day One) - This is pretty embarrassing to admit but the plane we boarded to Cebu was my very first plane ride I ever had in my entire life! Well maybe I did rode a plane once or twice before but I was still inside my mother's womb~haha! Before we left Cagayan de Oro, we still had to go through a lot of baggage check ups and we even had to remove our shoes for security reasons. I was a bit pissed off about it since I was wearing sneakers that time and it was hard to put them back on, especially when the plane was literally waiting for us to get on board. It took a while for us to find our seats and I was seated in between two strangers, unfortunately.
The hotel van picked us up from the airport and went straight to Cebu White Sands Resort and Spa. They never failed to wow us with their beautiful facilities, their kind and friendly crew, and of course their sumptuous food!
And then we were off to take shit tons of pictures and hit 'ze pool!

052213 (a.k.a Day Two) - Day two in paradise felt really comforting; the kind of comfort you get when you move into a new place. It's like it's telling you that you're home~hahaha ang OA lang!. The breakfast buffet is every foodie's heaven! Okay, I admit, umandar na naman ang pagiging ignorante namin. It's just that, I never had so many choices when it comes to breakfast before! Everything was overwhelming~haha!

The second day was spent solely for relaxation. We spent the afternoon hanging out in the shoreline, breathing fresh air and burying our feet in the sand. The rest of the day was spent on night swimming. We decided to take it easy for dinner, so we just ordered some burgers and fries from Jollibee. It took a while for the delivery dude to arrive but it was all good.

052312 (a.k.a Day Three) - Of course, our Cebu trip wouldn't be complete without a city tour! Day three was the perfect day for touring around the city. The weather was cooperating well with us. We first went to the Guitar Factory in Mactan since it was the closest tourist destination from our hotel.

It feels like we were lost in Spain. It was the perfect place for my outfit ~may ganun talaga? Hahaha! The brick walls, wooden window shutters, the architectural design of the former hide-outs were too beautiful.

Our wanderlust selves didn't stop at (feeling) being lost in Spain. We wandered through China as well! We visited the Taoist Temple in Beverly Hills, Cebu. I love how there's a little bit of California and China. Visiting the Taoist Temple was a bit of a challenge for someone who doesn't like climbing steep stairs/pavements like me. But reaching the top felt so good. The view was worth the climb.

Last stop for the day was the Lapu Lapu Shrine in Mactan

052412 - If day three was spent seeing the best places in Cebu; day four was solely for crazy banana boat rides, wandering around a big-ass mall, getting slightly lost, and tiring feet from walking around too much.

We were thrown hard into the big blue! My heart was racing for a moment, thinking that I wasn't wearing any life jacket, and that I was going to die in a few minutes~chos!

After lunch, we all went to Ayala Center Cebu.

Ended the day with sugar coma.
052512 (a.ka. Day Five) - It's almost the end of our week in Cebu and this time, we finally bid goodbye to Cebu White Sands, whose crew and staff happily accommodated us into their paradise. We moved to Sugbutel, since it's a whole lot nearer to the port. After settling all our stuff in our home for a day, we went straight to SM and wandered off again.

052612 (a.k.a Day Six) - It's the last morning we had in Cebu and we were preparing our stuff already. We still dropped by SM Cebu to do some last minute pasalubong shopping. For lunch, we ate at Neo Neo Grill House and their sisig was just perfect to culminate our last day in Cebu.

After strolling around the mall, we went back to Sugbutel to get our stuff and board a ship. It took so long for us to leave the beautiful island of Cebu, and while we were waiting for our journey back home to start, we took photos in the ship's muster (it sounds more like mustard to me).
I am still very thankful that this trip had been a week of firsts. I will be forever grateful to my then friends for this trip.
