Where To Eat in CDO: Sweet Leaf Bubble Tea and Cafe
Cagayan de Oro, 9000 Misamis Oriental, Philippines
Alright ladies and gentlemen, let me tell you something about how eager I am to blog about this pretty little place. Sweet Leaf Bubble Tea Cafe has been sort-of my home during long breaks. I have been hanging out in this place for so long but I always forget to include it in my tea adventures. Not until they recently opened up a new branch across my former school that I finally had the chance to pack up my camera and murdered the entire place with shutter clicks!
As always, Sweet Leaf never fails to amaze me by its pretty minimalism. It reminds me so much of the things I see on Heima's website probably because most of their decorations are purchased from the saidawesome store. News flash! Their decorations are locally made! All the while I thought they were from Heima~hihihi my bad. Most of their decorations are custom-made locally. Their artsy fartsy figurines are from shops in CDO and they even design and photograph their own prints! The place is simple with a hint of shabbiness. I could stay here and admire the place for hours. Plus, they have a cool playlist!
If their place is awesome-azing, the same thing goes for their tea. There's something about their kind of brew that doesn't leave a super sweet after taste or doesn't make you feel like you just basically drank a cup of pricey water. It's just right and for a reasonable price.Whenever I take a sip from my favorite tea combo (coffee rock salt and cheese + coffee jelly), I get this cozy feeling like it's telling me, "Chill out girl. Next class is still three hours away. We've got you covered."
It's also because of Sweet Leaf that I learned to appreciate the weird combo. At first I thought, "What? Rock salt and cheese? Who in their right minds would add such ingredients to what should be a sweet concoction?" But when I finally tried it, my initial judgment was wiped away clean. What at first seemed weird and a tad bit disgusting became my ultimate favorite. I did try other shop's rock salt and cheese combos but it doesn't measure up to how Sweet Leaf brews their own.
They currently have three branches in the city. One in Rosario Strip, Limketkai; another in Pabayo Street, Divisoria; and the recently opened one in the Lifestyle District, Corrales Extension. So if you're planning to visit Cagayan de Oro very soon, make sure to drop by this pretty and cozy tea shop! It's hard not to visit at least one of their branches! You are also very welcome to drop me a message and let's be tea buddies! :D
