The Sunny Side

It has been raining cats and dogs ever since last night and I'm sort-of missing the sunshine and summer-y vibe of the last time I went to the beach with my batch mates.

The New Year in Moments

2014 has eight days left before it finally ends. We'll be at the edge of an old year again, ready to close the chapter and move on to the next. Almost everyone I know is gearing up for the new year through earning stickers or browsing through book shops to have that "one perfect planner".

Strings of Thoughts From The Backseat

In the previous weekend, I had the chance to get away from my hometown for a short visit to one of the biggest cities in the world, Davao City. The 8-hour bus ride was literally a pain in the ass, but what makes it worth it was having this beautiful moment that I’d like to relive over and over again.

Bobson Opens Its First Branch In Cagayan de Oro

Aside from food establishments sprouting up almost everywhere, one of the best things about Cagayan de Oro is that popular fashion labels have began to establish their branches here. Last December 5, BOBSON has opened their first ever branch in this city and I was one of the lucky ones to have witnessed it.

Of Self-Esteem Issues and Overcoming It

A week ago, I felt super exhausted. It was the kind of exhaustion that wasn’t curable by good food or a vacation, not even sleep. After coming home from a long and stressful day, I sat down on the edge of my bed, rested my chin on my right hand, and just stared at my dog. I stared at her for like a good ten minutes and millions of thoughts about school, my life after it, this photography-slash-blogging thing that I’m doing, and work crossed in my mind.

Book Talk: One Day and Life Realizations

It took me long time to finish reading this book because in all honesty, I found the story line quite boring. When I reached the middle part, I lost interest in finishing the book and watched the movie adaptation instead. I know. I've broken one of my personal rules *face palm*

Camp Courage

It has been a few days since Camp Courage but my happiness hasn't subsided yet. Joining the camp was definitely planned out by God himself. It was no accident that I spent the weekend seeing His love and beauty with all the other courageous girls. We've talked about a lot of interesting topics. From calligraphy, to beauty and boys – I've seen these things in a different light because of the camp.

Book Talk: Every day and Life Realizations

After reading Norwegian Wood a few weeks ago, I was supposed to read something light and less depressing. I was a few chapters in of Cecelia Ahern's Thanks for The Memories but I eventually gave up on it. I just lost interest in the story. It's one of those books that I prefer to watch the movie adaptation instead of reading the book.

Flashback Friday at Bigby's

People coming in their best smart casual black outfits, partying under neon lights, auctioning off vintage items, meeting new people, and eating good food – now those are really good combinations that I experienced all at once last Saturday at one of Cagayan de Oro's homegrown restaurants.
Last September 20, 2014, I went to an auction hosted by Bigby's Cafe and Restaurant, and it was one of those fun first times. I was blessed enough to be invited to the event by my blogger best friend, James Tubeo, who blogs over at The Chubby Buddy

Book Talk: Norwegian Wood and Life Realizations

Before I begin talking about the life lessons I've learned from this book, let me share the struggle I am in because of it. You see, I know what I was in for when I purchased the book a month ago. I know that the book is filled with lines that will make my heart shatter into tiny million pieces, but I didn't expect it to be that sad. What broke my heart even more was Reiko's and her sister's story. It was so depressing. I can't imagine myself in the same situation.

Where To Eat in CDO: Sweet House Cafe

Floral patterns, pink shelves, cakes and cupcakes of all sorts – The Sweet House Pastry School and Cafe must be paradise for anyone who loves sweet and colorful things!
Last Monday, I had the chance to visit the pretty place with The Chubby Buddy, James Tubeo, and Kristille. It was the grand opening of the pastry school and their cafe. The moment I stepped in their cafe, lovely floral patterns greeted me. I can't stop myself from saying, "This is such a beautiful place" over and over again. I'm a sucker for anything floral and the cafe has loads of them.

Cagayan de Oro in Photos

Where to Eat in CDO: Backyard Grill

It's amazing how fast-growing the food places are in Cagayan de Oro. The city's starting to become a destination for everyone who loves affordable good food. One of the many cool places to dine in is The Backyard Grill.

Up Dharma Down Experience

Oo, last night was Tadhana for me and my friends to watch Up Dharma Down play live.
Forgive me if the first line of this blog entry sounded a tad bit conyo. I'm trying to piece together some of the titles of the band's songs, and I think I suck at it </3

Where to Eat in CDO: Dave's Beanery & Cafe

Do you ever get that certain feeling of wanting to be alone even for just a few hours, in a place where not a lot of people you know frequently visit, and just let your thoughts flow free? Well, I get that feeling a lot. I've been looking for the right place to spend time alone, and Dave's Beanery Cafe is the perfect sanctuary.
I've heard and read a lot of positive reviews about this cafe, and because I'm such a sucker for any place with coffee, I've been itching to try it with my friends. But lately, most of the people I know are drowning in a sea of homework and projects.

Where to Eat in CDO: Good Fellas Pizza

Just when I thought that no other pizza place can surpass my ultimate favorite, Good Fellas Pizza opened up a few weeks ago and proved to me that I haven't found the best yet.
Pizza has always been something that doesn't only make me happy but also something that makes me forget about all the stress I have been enduring. For the past weeks, school has become more than the bitch it was before. It's still prelim period and I am already under in so much pressure. The opening of Good Fellas Pizza happened at the right time. The morning after the soft opening, I invited my good ol' high school girl friend to try the place. It was a perfect afternoon to de-stress and catch-up with someone I haven't hung out with ever since the school year started.

Book Talk: Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and Life Realizations

First of all, I'd like to apologize for not regularly updating this blog anymore and for failing to post interesting stuff (lol as if my posts were ever interesting haha!). I have been so preoccupied with so many things lately. Then again, school, work and side projects are demanding my attention. Thank God I have this evening to spare for this blog entry.

Book Talk: Paper Towns and Life Realizations

A few weeks ago, I received my fair share of payment from one of my side projects. I was supposed to be heading home after meeting with the client, when I decided to drop by the bookstore. I just wanted to do some window shopping, but this table full of John Green, Jennifer Smith, Rainbow Rowell and many others, attracted me. I picked up This Is What Happy Looks Like by Jennifer Smith and read the back portion of the book. I eventually thought of splurging half of my pay for it. I was in the middle of the long queue when I decided to exchange Jennifer Smith's book for John Green's Paper Towns. And I didn't regret a thing.

The Indie Project

The past weekend has definitely been a productive one. I'm proud to tell you guys that I haven't been skipping classes as often as I did in the previous school year. I can actually count the number of classes I missed so far, unlike last year. Aside from that, I also participated in the DevCom General Assembly last Saturday. It's something I have to be proud of because for the first time, I actually attended the yearly event.

Where to Eat in CDO: Poprock Bakeshop & Cafe

Hello from the four dusty and humid corners of my humble abode!
I have been meaning to write and post this entry a few days ago but I got caught up with a few things like writing more entries for "For Amanda", editing photos for the sports shoot I did last weekend, and of course scheduling posts for work. Oh and also, John Green's Paper Towns have kept me occupied too. The book's too good that I can't go a day without reading at least three or four chapters.

Summer in Cebu

Cebu City, 6000 Cebu, Philippines
It will always feel so good to visit Cebu. Just when you thought you've seen every interesting place or tried every food or did every activity that the city has to offer, turns out, there will be so much more.

Our mini trip to the Queen City of the South was time-bounded. We left on the 30th of April instead of the 29th since the boat travels for the 29th were fully booked already. It was a-okay though because I had more time to actually pack lol. We arrived the next day and headed straight to my uncle's house in Calamba to settle our bags. Even if Cebu isn't suffering from rotational blackouts (unlike here in CDO), the summer heat was still so intense even if you're staying indoors.

Where To Eat in CDO: Francesca's

One of the best things about Cagayan de Oro these days is that there are a lot of really good cafes and restaurants sprouting left and right. There's so many new places to chose to dine in depending on your mood or craving. Last Monday, my guy friends and I were supposed to try a new cafe but the weather was dragging us down. Plus, we wanted so much to play Monopoly. So we visited and tried a new restaurant called Francesca's

The Staycation

This post is a tad bit overdue. Our internet connection at home is pretty messed up. Right now, I am trying to make the most out of the sluggish connection just to update this blog.

I spent my Monday night and the entire Tuesday feeling like a tourist in my own city. I didn’t exactly went to rediscover some places of my city (though I wish I did) but I just de-stressed in a resort like most tourists do. My mother attended this certain conference and hotel accommodation was included when she registered. She was supposed to share a room with three of her friends who were also attending the conference but they lived near the venue, so they decided to let us stay in their room.

Five Weird Guilty Pleasures

Sometimes there are things that makes us happy that other people find weird, creepy and sometimes gross. But what the hell right? As long as it puts us into a really good mood then it doesn't matter what other people say. Well... except when the things that make you happy is killing other people or anything similar to that then that's an entirely different thing.

The F3 Concert

Last night was a blast, ladies and gentlemen!
After months and months of preparation, planning, countless moments of frustration and almost sleepless nights of rehearsing, it has all been worth it. F³: The Concert has been a huge success. Even if we have met a few problems along the way, we have endured and conquered all of that. We have developed a better and stronger bond as a batch and in my book, that is one of the most important things.

Cebu Trip 2014

Cebu City, 6000 Cebu, Philippines
This is the third time that I visited the Queen City of the South and as always, Cebu has never failed to continue to amaze me with its high-rise buildings, faster-than-a-speeding-bullet development, good food and culture.
