Do you ever get that certain feeling of wanting to be alone even for just a few hours, in a place where not a lot of people you know frequently visit, and just let your thoughts flow free? Well, I get that feeling a lot. I've been looking for the right place to spend time alone, and Dave's Beanery Cafe is the perfect sanctuary.
I've heard and read a lot of positive reviews about this cafe, and because I'm such a sucker for any place with coffee, I've been itching to try it with my friends. But lately, most of the people I know are drowning in a sea of homework and projects.
It just so happened that, a few weeks ago, I was on the other side of the city to work on another side project. Then a friend of mine told me, "Since you're already here, go and try that cafe." I also needed a place to stay at that time, because I had to wait for my friends to watch a 7:30PM musical play (which a high school friend of mine starred in).
My afternoon in that corner of the quaint cafe was the best time to pause from the busy and fast-paced life I've been living, and just let my thoughts run wild and free. I tried my best to stop myself from using their WiFi connection so I could focus on writing, and I was able to make an outline of topics to blog about. Not only do I have a long list of future blog posts, but I also wrote a rough draft of a story that I might continue to write after this semester or if I have lesser things to worry about. It felt so good to write something other than a required article or a blog entry. It gives a different kind of satisfaction.
Dave's Beanery Cafe is the coziest cafe I've been in. Since it's located a tad bit far from the city's downtown area, not a lot of people I know visit the place frequently. You don't get this certain feeling of uneasiness because someone you know is in the same place with you. I don't know if I expressed it right. I think introverts can relate haha :)
Whether you're staring out at the glass window, pondering on certain things in life or letting your thoughts and creative juices flow free, it's best to munch on something while you're at it. Their Panini Sandwich with fries on the side is good. I love the way the bread knife cuts through the sandwich effortlessly. Their fries are seasoned well too. I ordered their Cafe Latte and it was alright for its price. Their Berry Iced Tea would go well with their Beef Mania or Chicken Cordon Bleu – a combination I'll definitely try once I visit the place again.
Over all, Dave's Beanery Cafe is a good place to hang out and have deep, meaningful conversations with people you care about, and a good place to just spend time alone with your thoughts. As much as I want to keep the place to myself (haha!), visit Dave's Beanery Cafe in Kauswagan Highway (near Save More Kauswagan), Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines.
