Where to Eat in CDO: 678 Chicken

Cagayan de Oro’s rising to the top of every foodie’s must-visit place! Not only are cafes and tea shops sprouting everywhere (like wildflowers hihi), but restaurants are opening left and right too. Recently, 678 Chicken — the Philippine’s very first branch — has opened their doors to the fried chicken-loving Kagay-anons.

I don’t know any of my friends who doesn’t like fried chicken. Even the ones who have allergies confess that they can’t resist to sneak a pinch of chicken skin or meat every once in a while. They say it was worth it every time. I mean, come on. You can’t simply look at the crispy, juicy, and crunchy chicken and stop yourself from craving it.
Fried chicken is also cooked in so many different ways. There’s the Chinese-style fried chicken and there’s the Pinoy way of cooking it, which is basically dipping the meat in a flour mixture and deep frying it. This is what I know and have tasted at least haha! I have heard that there’s a Korean way of cooking it but I haven’t had the chance to try it until yesterday. 
Together with other bloggers in CDO, we enjoyed three different but equally delicious flavors of fried chicken. We first tried the 678 Original which was still very crispy even if we ate them several minutes after they were served. Then we were served with an intimidating beer tower haha! That’s when I learned that in Korea, fried chicken and beer is a good combo. 
The next flavor that we tried was the Gochujang Chicken. It was served with its sweet chili paste sauce. I don’t have a high tolerance when it comes to spicy food, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy this one. I liked how the sweetness complements the spiciness of the dish.
The Ganjang Chicken was also one of the flavors that we tried last night. It was drizzled with its special garlic, onion and Korean soy sauce. Out of all the flavors we tried, the Ganjang Chicken was my favorite. One thing you must know about me is that I like garlic and onion. I could deep fry slices of garlic or onion rings for a snack and I’ll be happy as a bee. That’s why this flavor was a winner for me. 

In totality, 678 Chicken’s different flavors is something new and different that everyone will surely enjoy. You can round up your group of friends and enjoy big, crispy, juicy, crunchy, and flavorful chicken, or not so you can have more for yourself haha! They also serve a variety of side dishes like the Premium Wagyu Bulgogi Burger, Britto, Corn Macaroni Salad, and Garlic Butter Potato — side dishes that I’ll surely try the next time I dine at the place.
